Category Strategy Manager [United States]


 

Advance your career as a Category Strategy Manager for the Cereal Category supporting our Away from Home business (Convenience Channel, Food Service) and our Caribbean business. Location for this role is remote/home office. If you are near a Kellogg location, you will have the option to participate in our locate for your day program. The ideal candidate will live in MI, OH, IL, or IN area. However, we may be open to individuals in any other state within the US.


As Category strategy Manager, you’ll be leading our go to market strategy based on “Best in Class” category management principles for Cereal Category. Based on insights such as occasions, consumer segmentation and in store behavior you will develop a category vision that the competition will wish they thought of. You will own and execute distribution and assortment strategies supported by fact-based selling. Additionally, this role will be a critical leader in developing the relationships between Retailers, sales, and field category management. You will help shape the future of our foods in the marketplace in a rapidly growing environment.

HERE’S A TASTE OF WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING


  • Category Strategy
    – As the “go-to” advisor for our customers you will reinforce Kellogg’s as a thought leader. You will focus on uncovering key category insights and developing fact based selling tools and presentations to grow the category. Your delivery of action-oriented point of sale (POS) and consumer / shopper insights will help produce net sales and market share growth goals.
  • Category Insights – You will proactively lead and partner in the development of existing and new Category Management Tools, processes, and analytics. Projects to include are in-store testing, virtual store testing and scan / panel analysis. Proactively uncovering opportunities through robust analytics of the category, consumer, shopper, market, and customer information will be key to your success. Sharing category insights internally you will play a key part in enhancing Kellogg’s go-to-market Marketing, Innovation and Sales strategies.
  • Optimal Shelving - In this position, you lead and drive Perfect Shelf Principles for Cereal. Your focus on “Winning at Retail” will be driven by ensuring the execution of “Perfect Shelf” and the measurement of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
  • Internal Optimization - Driving a strong alignment and partnership internally will be imperative. Working closely with the commercial lead, together you will implement shopper and category insights to help further the growth of Kellogg’s.


YOUR RECIPE FOR SUCCESS


  • High School Diploma / GED and experience in an analytical role
  • Experience in Consumer-Packaged Goods focused on Category Management
  • Retail facing role in sales or category management at Convenience channels a plus!
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office application with advanced expertise in Excel.
  • Proficiency in JDA, Apollo or Spaceman space planning software and a strong understanding of Nielsen/Cortana/NPD data for insights and analysis
  • Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, presentation, coaching, and time management skills
  • A flexible work schedule and the ability to overnight travel around 10% - 15% of the time but may vary depending on location of residency.
