Toll Global Forwarding (TGF) provides a comprehensive suite of international air and ocean freight forwarding and advanced supply chain management services. The service offerings of TGF ranges from complex supply chain solutions through port-to-door freight forwarding movements globally.
The ocean freight services under TGF includes FCL/ LCL/ Breakbulk shipments, BCN and PO management, and ocean-related transportation and freight management services linked to the same. Operating in 28 countries and across multiple industry verticals, the ocean freight business has a volume of 700K TEUs and continues to grow in capacity and capability.
Working as the Divisional Head of Global Ocean Freight, and with a global team in product, sales and operation spread across US, EMEA, and APAC, this role will be responsible for the development and implementation of the global ocean freight product and commercial strategy in coordination with the regional and functional leaders at TGF. The Global Head will explore and drive opportunities for growth, support the digitization strategy, and promote a strong culture through our 2500 HC strong organization.
Development of pricing strategy and policies
- Develop and implement the Ocean freight policy as part of the broader strategic plan for approval by the President of GF
- Set and publish standard ‘product driven’ pricing
- Provide key pricing inputs for tender responses
Negotiate pricing & agree service parameters with carriers
- Manage the global negotiations with carriers to ensure pricing and service consistent with the Ocean freight product strategy and customer expectations
Manage product yield and profitability
- Work with regional ocean freight leaders where applicable to measure yield and profitability across the product
- Assist in the development and implementation of tools and KPI’s for yield management
- Manage global rebate programs to maximize income
Maintain customer service quality
- Oversee ocean line performance in conjunction with regional ocean freight leaders
- Assist in the development and implementation of tools and KPI’s for customer service quality management
Capacity planning
- Development and dissemination of strategy for Ocean’s peak season
- Support to Sales and Ocean Freight Heads where necessary in the development of local capacity planning
Sales & New Business Development
- Assist in promoting Ocean freight business in conjunction with Global Sales Head and Regional & Country leaders
- Identify Ocean freight growth opportunities either through the acquisition of companies or people
Technical
- Bachelor’s or Master’s level
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in the Freight Forwarding or Ocean Freight industry, with at least 10 years’ experience in Ocean freight forwarding in Strategy / Senior Management/ Leadership
- Experience in effective internal & external communications
- A record of successful project completion, sound decision making, integrity and teamwork
- An understanding of management, leadership, budgets, and project planning and management
- Exposure to sales environments at a Corporate Customer level
