We are looking for a Reporter - SUNDAY who will report high-quality, engaging, investigative and entertaining long-form current affairs stories for the SUNDAY programme and across TVNZ platforms which meet company strategy, and reach agreed targets of quality, budget, and ratings.
The opportunity - Te tūranga
In this role, you will report to the Executive Producer - SUNDAY and be responsible for:
- Generating story ideas/angles and fresh, innovative treatments (digital features, online)
- Deliver well-produced, well-told, slick, accurate stories to deadline, to budget and to duration.
- Clearly communicate story requirements to crew and co-ordinate crew logistics alongside the producer
- Maintain flow of information about story developments and legal or ethical issues and refer any contentious or unclear issues upwards to the Executive Producer.
- Establish and maintain familiarity with daily news/current affairs through contacts, other media, social media and news sites, radio and other sources.
- When required, go live in the field or studio as required for other programmes.
This is a 12 month fixed term contract.

To be successful in this role, we are looing for someone that has the following:
- Practical and extensive journalism experience, preferably in broadcasting with longer-format story telling.
- Have a strong general knowledge and keen awareness of local, national, and international events and across daily news developments.
- Advanced communication skills, both verbal and written, strong attention to detail
- Exceptional interviewing and script writing skills
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
- Excellent general knowledge across industry, combined with good judgment
- Focused, and performs well under pressure, with ability to work to deadlines.
