Scope of Role
This role manages the finance function in a growing company at an exciting stage and provides strategic insight into the financial implications of the business performance. The role is responsible for interpreting the financial results and explaining the key drivers of this performance, with a view to driving profit improvement and challenging the business decisions.
What you will do:
- Report to the Chief Executive Officer serving as the independent, objective voice of the executive management team.
- Balance the core tasks of the finance function (cost management, risk management, cash flow, controls and business intelligence with playing a central role in strategy formulation.
- Ensure the accurate, timely preparation and submission of monthly and year end financial and monthly management accounts.
- Identify revenue and margin improvement opportunities through data mining and analysis to increase efficiency and effectiveness within the company.
- Build/nurture and shape a finance function that is future-proofed for the expansion of the business and one that has the ability to withstand some headwinds.
- Be a key partner in the development of the strategy with growth plans.
- Identify commercial, financial and economic risks from business propositions/acquisitions.
- Establish profitability of business propositions.
- Assess drivers of profitability.
- Forecast future performance based on knowledge of past performance.
- Develop strategic plans to achieve corporate goals.
- Understand the key value drivers
Forecasting and Planning
- Prepare the quarterly forecasting process ensuring a high level of forecast accuracy
- Prepare the annual budget process in line with business targets working closely with the site management team
Controls Compliance
- Ensure integrity of controls and compliance
- Support external auditors
