Communications Technician - FIFO [Australia]


 

  • Full time opportunity on site at Olympic Dam – 7/7 roster
  • Work across a variety of MST products and third party technologies

We are seeking a qualified Field Communications Technician to join our team at Olympic Dam, on a 7 on/7 off roster. This role is Ex-Adelaide. If you are a field technician from another state, you are welcome to apply, however, it will be your responsibility to get to Adelaide.

At MST our Communications Technicians are an integral part of our customer facing operations, providing service and support to customers both onsite and in our workshops. Technicians will work across our MST Product suite and third party integrated technologies in line with the scope of works our Surface and Underground mining customers require. Work will be performed on site.

Typical daily tasks include:

  • Install and maintain radio frequency (RF) equipment.
  • Install and maintain Wi-Fi Network Solutions
  • Read and write RF transmission and reception systems
  • Deliver RF Solutions including Coaxial Cable Termination
  • Testing and splicing fibre optic cables
  • Fault finding in all types of communications systems
  • Bench repairs on electronic equipment

Everyone at MST is responsible for safety and you will ensure a culture and practice of safety compliance is maintained on all worksites.

To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate the following skills and attributes:

  • Certificate III in Electronic and Communications or equivalent.
  • 2-3 years on-the-job experience
  • Focused on delivering quality work to achieve customer satisfaction.
  • Mine sites experience (desirable)
  • Working knowledge of communications technology and the mining industries (desirable)
  • Good time management and punctual

You will already have or be ready to complete:

  • Working at Heights certificate
  • Tower Rescue or equivalent
